New SHORT TERM
KEY MESSAGES
- Showers and thunderstorms expected from Monday afternoon through Monday night, with the best chances east of an Abilene to Big Lake line. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main concerns.
- Drier weather for the rest of the week.
SHORT TERM
Today and tonight · Issued at 212 AM CST Sun Nov 1 2026
Fairly quiet weather expected for today and tonight. The main concern will be the potential for patchy fog across the area through the mid morning hours due to light winds and high humidity. As temperatures warm, the fog will dissipate by late morning. Otherwise, mostly cloudy skies are expected through most of the day, with southerly winds around 10 MPH developing by early afternoon. This will help temperatures warm into the upper 70s to lower 80s. For tonight, temperatures will be a few degrees warmer, with lows in the mid to upper 60s.
LONG TERM
Monday through Saturday · Issued at 1214 AM CDT Sun Nov 1 2026
A strong upper level trough and Pacific cold front will move east across west central Texas late Monday afternoon and night. Expect scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to fire along the front(Cam models showing this already) and move east across the area. Much of our area is in a marginal risk for severe so a low chance that a few storms may produce large hail and damaging winds. Please keep up with the latest weather information as we are in the secondary severe weather season. A warm day Monday with highs 80 to 85.
Looks like a quiet weather pattern next week into the weekend as additional storm systems are not expected until after the long term period. Highs will be in the lower to mid 70s with overnight lows in the 40s to lower 50s.
AVIATION
06Z TAFS · Issued at 1255 AM CDT Sun Nov 1 2026
Currently we have some low clouds developing from near KBBD north towards KABI. KBBD is already at a 500 foot ceiling, and KJCT is down to 200 feet, with observations elsewhere showing VFR heights of around 3500 feet. There is a fairly significant layer of upper level clouds moving into the area from the west that could hinder development of low clouds and fog, but with two sites already at IFR and LIFR, will continue the mention of low clouds and some fog through the overnight hours. Will have to keep an eye on all TAF sites and amend if necessary. Expect a gradual improvement to VFR by late tomorrow afternoon or early evening at most sites, with southerly winds near 10 knots developing by early afternoon.
